Small Pleasures

“Small Pleasures” is designed for the facade of the Ulrich Museum of Art (Wichita, KS) in place of Joan Miro’s monumental mosaic Personnages Oiseaux. Miro’s mural is under restoration from 2012 through 2016. The installation consists of a pixelated print on a billboard-sized banner covering the facade, a small waterproof display case mounted in the middle of the banner, and two telescopes installed across the street for the viewing of miniature works displayed in the case. Here are the images of my sculptures inside the display case.

Raising the Temperature addresses contemporary artistic response to observed anthropogenic challenges to the environment. No one is external to the social and cultural context of life. The environmental crisis is the result of decades of commitment to the priority of material value to the exclusion of cultural change and sustainability. Human survival demands a reconfiguration of lifestyle in the context of a re-estimation of global values in Eco-preference.  The words Raising the Temperature are a metaphor for this issue which is the responsibility of us all.

DUMBO Glow – tonight and tomorrow!

December 19th and 20th 2013 – “DUMBO Glow”
Winter Videos in The Triangle 5:00pm – 9:00pm
Presented by 3_Search
Curated by Leo Kuelbs and John Ensor Parker
“Dumbo Glow” continues a winter tradition started in Berlin in 2009. The “Glow” series brought together a wide array of video works from a full spectrum of artists and created a “homecoming” like atmosphere. “DUMBO Glow” expands this tradition by bringing it to New York City. The show recasts the Triangle and The Manhattan Bridge Anchorage as “Dumbo’s Living Room,” with video art evoking feelings of connection, balance and symmetry working in support of the holiday season.

Participating Artists: Anne Katrine Senstad, Christine Schultz, Constantin Hartenstein, Dana Levy, Danielle de Picciotto, Denis Salivanov, James Edmonds Jesse Fleming, Monica Cook, Nicole Antebi, Noah Klersfeld, Sarah Walko, Tomas Eller
